Sparkle Bird
06:02
|
|||
There's a bird in my back yard
And she sings every morning
And she rises with the sun
There's a Phoenix around me
There's a Phoenix in my tree
There's a Phoenix in my back yard
singing endlessly
There's a bird in my back yard
And she sings oh so beautifully
Rises with the sun
And wakes me oh so gently
She says, "Have you ever been in love?"
She says, "Have you ever, ever been in love before?"
Have you ever been in love?

Longest Week
06:02
|
|||
This has been
The longest week in the world
This has absolutely without question been
The longest week in the world
I just woke up and it's Saturday
It's been a week
Well, almost, anyway...
And tomorrow, they call it Sunday
I wonder, will I hear your voice?
This has been without a freaking doubt
The Proust and Tolstoy longest week in the world
I just woke up and it's Saturday
It's been a week
Well, almost, anyway...
And tomorrow, they call it Sunday
I wonder, will I hear your voice?
I wonder, will I hear your voice?

Yes Please
03:36
|
|||
More please of you in my life
Yes please to you in my life
Was it the sun in my eyes
Or was it your smile
Took my heart by surprise
By more than a mile
More please of falling in love with you
Yes please to you in my life
More please of eating some lobster and jumping in the ocean
More please of waking up next to you
And seeing your smile and looking into your eyes
And kissing your face and your toes and your tummy
and everything in between

Bonfire
04:44
|
|||
She said
Baby, let's build a bonfire in the street
I said
Baby, I like the way you think
She said
Together let's make some paper wings
And fly way up high
We can see if the air really tastes like
Key lime pie
I can almost see that bus driver's face
As they come around the corner
Maybe they would put on the brakes
And finally slow down
She said
Baby, let's build a bonfire in the street
I said
Baby, I like the way you think
She said
Together let's run away tonight
To the ends of the world
Find us a beach
And let our lives unfurl
I can almost feel those waves
Crash against my face
Maybe I would put on the brakes
And finally slow down
She said
Baby, let's build a bonfire in the street
I said
Baby, I like the way you think
She said
Together let's dance without a word
We can float like Sparkle Bird
Disappear and never return
I can almost feel those waves
Crash against my face
Maybe I can put on the brakes
And finally slow down

Vending Machine
04:58
|
|||
I'll give 80, you give 20
Guess that's okay by me
I'll take the pain, you take the money
Guess that's what it means to be free
I lose my grip, you think it's funny
I get none and you get plenty
Pounding my fist as hard as I can
On this vending machine
Hey mister, can I borrow a quarter?
Got to get me some boundaries
Let's pretend it never happened
And everything's just fine
Don't rock the boat, don't stir the pot
No stepping out of line
And if I happen to bring up the past
Well I must be out of my mind
Pounding my fist as hard as I can
On this vending machine
Hey mister, can I borrow a dollar?
Got to get me some boundaries
You know you're supposed to forgive and forget
It's easier that way
Looks like the blood on your face is still wet
I'm not sure what to say
Tell me who do you think that you are
Walking around and showing your scars
Pounding my fist as hard as I can
On this vending machine
Hey mister, can I borrow a dollar?
Got to get me some boundaries
Hey mister, can I borrow a dollar?

Janitor
03:36
|
|||
He snuck into the janitor's office
Stole the keys, the bucket and the mop
Walked up and down the halls cleaning bathroom stalls
Stayed busy and he never did stop
"They all believe that I'm a real janitor
Call my name when they're in a mess
And I come running with my bucket and my mop
Because the Janitor always knows best"
Smiles and praise coming my way
And "hey, hope you have a nice day!"
All I gotta do is keep cleaning after you
And I get to be hero for a day
But lately appreciation's lacking
Expectations are not to his taste
He used to at least get a smile and a wink
But now he's mopping up radioactive waste
"Hey, I'm not even the janitor
I just do it as a favor for free
This isn't my apron, my bucket or my mop
Why can't anybody see?"
Smiles and praise coming my way
And "hey, hope you have a nice day!"
All I gotta do is keep cleaning after you
And I get to be hero for a day
Sideways glances, hostile stances
What's his problem today?
I wish he'd hurry up and clean up this mess
I've got a date and I really can't stay
He finally took off that apron
He said, "It never was really mine"
Grumbling on, where's the janitor gone?
He walked away without looking behind
Smiles and praise coming my way
And "hey, hope you have a nice day!"
All I gotta do is keep cleaning after you
And I get to be hero for a day
Smiles and praise coming my way
And "hey, hope you have a nice day!"
All I gotta do is keep showing up for you
And I get to be hero for a day

Gone Fishin'
03:34
|
|||
Just swimming
Minding my own business
Down here beneath the waves
I'm right at home
Just living
Ain't bothering no one
Except maybe the ones I eat for breakfast
As I roam
Stimulus
Automatic response
No time to stop and ponder
If I wanna win
Stimulus
Automatic response
I don't even have to think
To save my skin
Bug hits the surface
I'm on him in a flash
I spot him and I've got him
I'm grabbing all the cash
Ripped out of the water
Wasn't even time to look
What did I bite down on?
A worm on a hook
Stimulus
Automatic response
No time to stop and ponder
If I'm gonna win
Stimulus
Automatic response
I don't even have to think
To save my skin
Giant ugly face
Staring down at me
He's pulling out the hook
And I can't even breathe
Cut off my head and feed it to the dog
Much to my surprise
Next time I'll be more careful
Welcome to my demise
Stimulus
Automatic response
No time to stop and ponder
If I wanna win
Stimulus
Automatic response
I don't even have to think
To save my skin

Circus
06:24
|
|||
Showed up in my mailbox today
Envelope had my name
Made my eyes go wide
Circus invitation inside
"Come see what we've got in store
A tightrope act and plenty more
Monkeys fully trained
You're bound to be entertained
"Front row seats for you
And all you have to do
Kindly hand over your keys
Your shoes and your jacket, if you please"
Peanuts, popcorn... We can make a million
Those are not my monkeys
And that is not my circus anymore
Not for me to try to see
Accidental or on purpose
Sat down in my chair to consider
I might already be a winner
But chances are getting thinner
So instead I just heated up my dinner
Peanuts, popcorn... We can make a million
Those are not my monkeys
And that is not my circus anymore
Not for me to try to see
In the big top I get real nervous
I don't need a high wire act
Just wanna keep my sanity intact
The clowns do not deserve us
Not my monkeys and not my circus
Peanuts, popcorn... We can make a million
Those are not my monkeys
And that is not my circus anymore
Not for me to try to see
Accidental or on purpose
Those are not my monkeys
And that is not my circus anymore
Not for me to try to see
In the big top I get real nervous

Belayer
04:32
|
|||
I love you without apology
Deep connection, intertwined
You truly get my psychology
How I love your sexy mind
They might look at us funny
They might stop and stare
But the joke's on them
Because we really don't care
In a world full of proctology
Gotta tell you how I feel
Your heart is my cosmology
I'm gonna let go of the wheel
They might look at us funny
They might stop and stare
But the joke's on them
Because we really don't care
Climb on!
I am your belayer
This multipitch is our playground
Side by side
From headpoint to redpoint
Are we really even Earthbound?
Your intelligence is really hot
Absolutely unconventional
Won't you share with me your every thought
Positively heaven-sent-tional
They might look at us funny
They might stop and stare
But the joke's on them
Because we really don't care
Climb on!
I am your belayer
This multipitch is our playground
Side by side
From headpoint to redpoint
Are we really even Earthbound?
Like a bridge made of granite
Strategically placed
My world comes together
When I see your face
Climb on!
I am your belayer
This multipitch is our playground
Side by side
From headpoint to redpoint
Are we really even Earthbound?

This is the story of the Ballad of San Cristobal
The Patron Saint of Paint Brush hanging on my wall
The people in the town sang it poorly
I guess we're lucky that they sang at all
They were singing the glorious Ballad of San Cristobal
Some of the Ballad takes place in the deserts of Mexico
Some of it has been erased so we'll never know
Maybe he paints plein air as the dying embers glow
Shaving his head and pushing against the status quo
This is the story of the Ballad of San Cristobal
The Patron Saint of Paint Brush hanging on my wall
The people in the town sang it poorly
I guess we're lucky that they sang at all
They were singing the glorious Ballad of San Cristobal
I think some of it may have happened in the evening
I would have stayed on longer but I was leaving
Something dramatic took place as they stood around the fire
I couldn't really hear it because I was tired
This is the story of the Ballad of San Cristobal
The Patron Saint of Paint Brush hanging on my wall
The people in the town sang it poorly
I guess we're lucky that they sang at all
They were singing the glorious Ballad of San Cristobal
Horses and hand-rolled cigarettes in the chill of the night
Maybe a sip of tequila under the starlight
I'm not one hundred percent sure that I remember it right
Nothing but the facts, for certain; but maybe not quite
This is the story of the Ballad of San Cristobal
The Patron Saint of Paint Brush hanging on my wall
The people in the town sang it poorly
I guess we're lucky that they sang at all
They were singing the glorious Ballad of San Cristobal
They came from miles around bearing witness to the Ballad
A tri-tip on the smoker, somebody brought a salad
The conversation was flowing so good, we almost ran out of firewood
And we never got around to singing the Ballad
This is the story of the Ballad of San Cristobal
The Patron Saint of Paint Brush hanging on my wall
The people in the town sang it poorly
I guess we're lucky that they sang at all
They were singing the glorious Ballad of San Cristobal
That was the story of the Ballad of San Cristobal
The Patron Saint of Paint Brush hanging on my wall
The people in the town sang it poorly
I guess we're lucky that they sang at all
They were singing the glorious Ballad of San Cristobal
